Description
What Is ARA 290 Peptide?
ARA 290 peptide, also known by its international nonproprietary name Cibinetide, is a synthetic linear peptide of 11 amino acids modeled on the three-dimensional structure of helix B of erythropoietin. Unlike EPO, ARA-290 was designed so that it does not stimulate red blood cell production in research models. Instead, it was developed to selectively engage the innate repair receptor (IRR), a heteromeric complex of the EPO receptor and the β-common receptor (CD131).
Because of this selective receptor activity, the ARA 290 peptide has become a subject of interest in preclinical and clinical research on tissue protection, inflammation signaling, and peripheral nerve function.
ARA 290 Peptide Research Overview
ARA-290 has been studied in published scientific literature in the following areas:
- Small fiber neuropathy research: Phase 2 clinical studies looked at cibinetide in subjects with sarcoidosis-associated small fiber neuropathy, measuring corneal nerve fiber density and neuropathic symptom scores.
- Metabolic and diabetic neuropathy models: Research investigated ARA-290 in type 2 diabetes-associated neuropathy and metabolic markers.
- Nerve regeneration and tissue repair: Preclinical studies explored the peptide’s role in IRR-mediated anti-inflammatory and tissue-protective signaling.
